Arthur Jones, a former defensive tackle for the Indianapolis Colts, passed away at the age of 39. Jones, the older brother of former UFC Champion Jon Jones and former Super Bowl winner Chandler Jones, won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens before signing a huge contract deal with the Colts. Jones signed with the Colts largely because of coach Chuck Pagano, who had been his defensive coordinator in Baltimore.
During his three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2014-2016), he played in a total of 17 games, starting 11 of them. In his rookie season (2014), he had 23 tackles and recorded 1.5 sacks. However, the following year, he was placed on injured reserve. In 2016, he played in eight games, accumulating 30 tackles, but he suffered a groin injury that ended his season and resulted in his release. In 2017, he signed with Washington before announcing his retirement from the NFL.
Although, Arthur Jones didn’t play much for the Colts, he brought a high level of energy in the locker room and a winning pedigree to the team. Being a part of something great was a key part of his vision, which was partly why he wanted to develop an identity on defense that was similar to the style of the Ravens.
