Colts signed a veteran cornerback.
The Indianapolis Colts have added Mike Hilton to their practice squad.
After the team announced that Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore II will miss a considerable amount of time due to a calf injury sustained during the week 3 victory over the Tennessee Titans, they signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to their practice squad today.
The 31-year old Hilton, entering his 10th NFL season, spent the past four years with the Cincinnati Bengals as their primary nickel corner under the current Colts defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo. During his tenure, he recorded 283 tackles, 6 interceptions, 2 sacks, and 24 passes defended across 64 games. Although he briefly signed with the Miami Dolphins in July 2025, he was released at the end of training camp without making the 53-man roster. Prior to Moore’s injury, the Colts had worked him out earlier in the preseason and expressed interest in him.
Hilton will join the practice squad but could be elevated to the active roster soon, particularly for the nickel role vacated by Moore. Given his familiarity with Anarumo’s scheme, he’s an ideal plug and play option, providing veteran leadership in a secondary that includes Charvarius Ward, Xavien Howard, and younger players like Mekhi Blackmon and Johnathan Edwards. This comes as the undefeated Colts (scored a franchise record 103 points through three games without a turnover) prepare for a tough stretch against the Rams, Raiders, Cardinals, and Chargers teams with potent passing attacks. Colts are hoping Hilton's experience could prove valuable if Moore's absence extends.
