Colts beat the Denver Broncos to remain undefeated.
Colts start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2009.
Wow, the Indianapolis Colts (2-0) pulled off an amazing comeback to beat the Denver Broncos (1-1) 29-28 at Lucas Oil Stadium! This win is a big deal because it’s the first time the Colts have started the season with a 2-0 record since way back in 2009. The Colts clinched the victory with kicker Spencer Shrader’s 45-yard field goal, which was made just as the clock hit zero. This happened after the Colts missed a 60-yard field goal that would have sealed Broncos win but Broncos Linebacker Dondrea Tillman was penalized 15 yards for using leverage by another player to jump and block the kick.
The Broncos started strong, but the Colts offense, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, really got into their groove. Jones had an amazing game, completing 23 of 34 passes for 316 yards, scoring a touchdown, and no turnovers. He also added a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, which is his first 300-yard game since September 2023 with the New York Giants. Running back Jonathan Taylor, who had a big 69-yard run, also added 25 rushes for 165 yards. The Colts kept making history with their 10th straight scoring drive, which is the longest in NFL history. Plus, they became the first team in the Super Bowl era to not punt in either of their first two games!
For the Broncos, quarterback Bo Nix had a really good game, but it wasn’t enough. He completed 22 of 30 for 206 yards and three touchdowns! But he made a costly mistake by throwing an interception while driving to the red zone, which allowed the Colts to score 3 points on their next drive. And then, veteran kicker Will Lutz missed a 42-yard field goal that could have given the Broncos a 5-point lead. Sadly, that missed chance gave the Colts the chance to kick a walk-off field goal.
