In an article published by ESPN Senior NFL Reporter Jeremy Fowler, he reported that recently, quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr.’s agent, Deiric Jackson of Legacy Sports Advisors, met in person with the Colts GM, Chris Ballard, to discuss Richardson’s future with the team with reports indicating the topic of a possible trade was "broached" by Jackson, although a trade was not requested.
This comes on the heels after the team decided to go with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Richardson has been benched for the second time in his career, but has since embraced his new role and recognized that he hasn’t been the best version of himself for the team. Here’s what he had to say about the decision:
Richardson has acknowledged his leadership shortcomings and has taken steps to become a more mature and vocal presence on the team. He is also realizing that he still has another chance to prove himself, as the team has stated that they won’t trade him and reiterated that he’s only one play away from playing. As a fan of Richardson, I am optimistic that when he gets the chance, he demonstrates to the team and the fan base that he has the potential to be the future of the Colts, preventing the team from going through another quarterback carousel.
